President's Message:

At this year’s ASHRAE Winter meeting in Las Vegas, Ray Alvine P.E. was inducted into the ASHRAE Hall of Fame. Ray was a lifelong Nebraska ASHRAE Member who made many significant contributions to the HVAC Industry that had local and global impact. His dedication to the engineering community and innovation makes him one of only 37 Hall of Fame Members in ASHRAE’s over 125 year history. Ray was a mentor to many people in our chapter during his lifetime and for those of us who were lucky enough to have met him know how deserving he was of this honor.

For those of you who read these newsletters, you all know we try and pay close attention to what is going on in our state politically. We do not have a political party stance, however we do follow ASHRAE’s strategic plan, mission statements, and take action when something effects our industry. We always try to act in a manner that best serves our industry and our membership. We are actively following and ask yourselves to actively follow LB 1046, LB 1047, and LB 1058. These bills will result in significant changes to our public power companies and energy in the state. Our Government Advocacy Committee (GAC) as well as David Holtzclaw is putting a lot of time and effort into trying to influence these bills for the benefit of our membership. Please feel free to reach out to myself or anyone on our GAC if you have any questions or concerns. If you know someone in the state legislator we would really appreciate the opportunity to share our concerns with them.

We are meeting virtual again this month. Hopefully the post-Holiday COVID spike continues to drop so we can be in person in March. We will continue to plan on in person meetings and decide a week or so before hand if we need to go virtual or not based on state and local COVID numbers.

Thank you,

Jake Kopocis
